Mabuhay (pronunciation: mah-BOO-high) is a Tagalog word used to exclaim “long live”.
The Mabuhay Philippines Festival, a signature event of the Philippine Independence Day Council (PIDC) held every summer is now co-produced by the Harbourfront Centre. The three day event will showcase arts and culture of the Philippines that will feature individual and collective talents of the Filipino community. It is the only forum with which all aspects of Philippine heritage are explored and all artistic mediums are featured.
Some of Spent Pencils own Fillipino talents will be on hand producing original comics and cartoon artworks.
While you are there, look for Paul Limgenco (Spent Pencils’ resident water colorist) will be doing “Freestyle”, Forms/Kata, self-defense sets, and sparring with audience participation along with Combat Science (Combat Science’s mission is to foster and promote the study of FMA (Filippino Martial Arts) in all its forms.)
Joining us is one of SP’s talented friend, artist extraordinaire, Michael Simbajon.
